Angie K Parr, MD

Angie K. Parr, MD is a board certified pediatrician with over 20 years experience. Born to German immigrant physicians, Drs. Werner and Inge Kuenast, in Galveston,TX, Dr. Parr grew up in Austin and graduated with highest honors from the University of Texas at Austin in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts in biology/premed and german. As a lifelong Longhorn, Dr. Parr met her future husband, Russell “Rusty” Parr, at UT. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this year. Dr. Parr graduated from UT Southwestern Medical School (UTSWMS) with honors in 1985, and completed her pediatric internship and residency at UTSWMS Parkland & Children's Medical Center of Dallas. In 1988 she was chosen pediatric chief resident/attending physician for the program. For the next 5 years she continued as attending physician and also as a teaching professor at Children’s in Dallas while in private practice.

In 1994 the Parrs moved to Austin with toddlers, Matt and Kristine. Since then, Dr. Parr has continued her love of children and teaching by working in private practice, teaching pediatric residents in east Austin, staffing urgent care at Children's ER, working locum tenens, then joining Bee Caves Pediatrics as well as teaching Middle School Science and volunteering mentoring for PSIA at her kids' school. She also volunteers with her church youth music group,vacation bible school, and most recently as an avid booster club parent for Cougar baseball & softball teams.

Over the past 20 years, Dr. Parr’s interest in pediatric allergy and asthma began in Dallas, where she was fueled by her personal experience with asthma within her own family. As a result, she became certified as an asthma educator with the American Lung Association. She continues to be an avid asthma educator to this day. Her family and her faith are still key; Rusty, her wonderful husband of 25 years, her son Matt who is now is attending UT, and her daughter Kris who is now at CHS. The Parrs and their 4 dogs live in north Austin . “We are indeed blessed.”
